Science

Middle and high school students will explore a wide range of scientific disciplines, including biology, life science, physics, and marine science. The curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, curiosity, and a hands-on approach to learning. Students will engage in experiments, projects, and discussions that delve into the natural world, from the microscopic to the cosmic scale. They will develop a strong foundation in scientific principles, learn to apply the scientific method, and gain practical skills in data analysis and problem-solving. These courses aim to inspire a lifelong interest in science and prepare students for advanced studies and real-world challenges.

English Classes

English and Language Arts are all about understanding what we read as well as communicating, verbally and in writing, in an appropriate, clear and meaningful way. Students will read diverse materials and think critically about them to determine the main idea, and the “why.” Students will also engage in speech and debate to enhance oral communication skills. Writing will include essays and other papers, poetry, journalism and creative writing. All activities will include proper English language usage and enhanced vocabulary.

Mathematics

Students will build a solid foundation in mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques. The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of topics, including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, liberal arts math and personal finance, tailored to meet each student's level of understanding. Students will engage in hands-on activities, real-world applications, and collaborative projects to enhance their analytical and critical thinking skills. The course emphasizes logical reasoning, precision, and the development of a mathematical mindset, empowering students to tackle complex problems with confidence. By the end of the program, students will be well-prepared for advanced studies and everyday challenges requiring mathematical knowledge.

Social Studies

With a special emphasis on Civics, American History and World History, middle and high school students will embark on a comprehensive exploration of humanity's past. The curriculum is designed to provide a deep understanding of significant events, cultures, and figures that have shaped the world we live in today. Students will delve into the rich tapestry of American history, from its founding to the present, alongside a global perspective on key civilizations, conflicts, and social movements. Through primary sources, critical discussions, and engaging projects, students will develop historical thinking skills, including analysis, interpretation, and contextual understanding. Extracurriculars

In our microschool's extracurricular program, students have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of activities beyond the traditional classroom setting, including baking, gardening, sewing, hiking, life skills, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). These activities are designed to foster creativity, practical skills, and a love for lifelong learning. Baking and cooking classes teach students essential culinary skills, while gardening provides hands-on experience in sustainability and environmental stewardship. Sewing classes offer a creative outlet and practical knowledge in crafting and design. Hiking encourages physical fitness and an appreciation for nature. Life skills workshops cover essential everyday competencies, from financial literacy to basic home maintenance. The STEAM program integrates creative and analytical thinking, encouraging innovation through interdisciplinary projects. These extracurriculars aim to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are curious, capable, and confident in a variety of real-world contexts.

Reading Classes

In our microschool's reading courses, middle and high school students engage with a diverse selection of texts that range from classic literature to contemporary works.
